I absolutely hate open offices.
Sure, they may look nicer, more uniform, less claustrophobic, and seem less depressing than traditional cubicles, but there’s a tremendous lack of personal privacy and personal space— which, for many, is the key to work efficiency and productivity.
But the worst kind of open office space is the one where there’s a second floor balcony looming above everyone’s desks. Sitting there, you constantly get this unsettling feeling that someone is watching you (and there usually is). It sends chills down your back and causes even more work anxiety.
