What is a crime? Who is a criminal?

A crime is a deliberate act that causes physical or psychological harm, damage to or loss of property, and is against the law. There are lots of different types of crime and nearly everyone will experience a crime at some point in their lives

A crime is an act that breaks the established laws of a country and endangers the lives and well-being of others (physically, financially or psychologically). For example, I don't consider jaywalking a crime, since while it breaks the law, it doesn't really endanger another person. A criminal is an individual who commits a crime. A jaywalker isn't a criminal, whereas corrupt financial executives, thieves and murderers certainly are one.
